“It’s about giving other parents peace of mind”
As a mother of two, I know firsthand the mental load that many women carry every day. I founded this agency because I wanted families to have access to reliable helpers and genuine guidance, not just paperwork and transactions. My goal is to bridge homes with helpers who are well-trained, respected, and supported, so both employers and helpers can thrive together. This business is more than work to me – it’s about giving other parents peace of mind I once searched for myself.

Frequently asked questions
Questions Families Often Ask Before Hiring a Helper
How do I calculate my helper’s off-day pay?
From 1 January 2023, all domestic helpers must receive at least one rest day per month.
If you and your helper agree for her to work on her rest day, you must pay at least one day’s salary on top of her monthly pay.
How to calculate:
- Monthly salary ÷ 26 working days = 1 day’s pay
Example:
- Monthly salary: $650
- Daily rate: $650 ÷ 26 = $25
- Working 2 rest days = $25 × 2 = $50
Can I hire a helper without using an agency?
Yes, you can hire a domestic helper directly without using a maid agency. This is called direct hiring.
However, you must:
- Apply for a Work Permit via MOM
- Purchase medical insurance & security bond
- Arrange Settling-In Programme (for first-time helpers)
- Ensure medical check-ups every 6 months
- Handle paperwork, arrival, and training
Many families choose an agency like Redline Maid Agency to manage compliance, documentation, screening, and matching to reduce risk.
Can my helper open a bank account?
Yes. Foreign domestic workers in Singapore can open a bank account.
Most banks require:
- Valid Work Permit
- Passport
- Proof of residential address
- Employer’s consent (in some cases)
Having a bank account promotes salary transparency and helps employers comply with MOM’s salary payment regulations. Redline Employment will assist to set up a POSB bank account for all helpers in Singapore.
Are helpers covered under the Work Injury Compensation Act (WICA)?
No. Foreign domestic workers are not covered under WICA in Singapore.
Instead, employers must:
- Purchase Medical Insurance (minimum $60,000 per year coverage)
- Buy a $5,000 security bond
- Pay all medical expenses related to work injuries
Employers are fully responsible for their helper’s medical care and safety. At Redline, we assist employers to apply for insurance.
Can I ask my helper to pay part of her medical expenses?
No. Under MOM regulations, employers must bear all medical expenses for their foreign domestic worker.
You cannot deduct medical fees from her salary.
This includes:
- Outpatient visits
- Hospitalisation
- Work-related injuries
- 6-monthly medical examinations
Medical insurance is mandatory to help cover larger bills.
What is the minimum income required to hire a helper?
There is no fixed minimum salary requirement stated publicly by MOM.
However, employers must demonstrate the financial ability to:
- Pay monthly helper salary
- Pay the monthly Maid Levy ($300 or $60 concessionary rate)
- Cover insurance and medical expenses
- Provide proper accommodation
MOM evaluates each Work Permit application individually.
Do you offer a 6-month refund policy?
At Redline Maid Agency, we offer structured after-placement support designed to protect employers.
Our policies typically include:
- Replacement guarantee within coverage period
- Matching review support
- Post-placement counselling
- Ongoing employer advisory
Specific refund or replacement terms depend on the service package selected. Contact us for full details.
Who is eligible for Maid Levy Relief?
You may qualify for Concessionary Maid Levy ($60 per month instead of $300) if you live with:
- A child under 16 years old (Singapore Citizen)
- An elderly person aged 67 and above (Singapore Citizen)
- A person with disability (Singapore Citizen)
The levy concession is granted per eligible person.
Families caring for vulnerable members benefit from this government support.
